NO TO CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATIONS

The reason why I do not participate in most Christian associations in Nigeria today is because they are politically inclined than pursuing the great commission!

When you study the reasons for starting some of them, you will realize they were meant to combat political issues affecting Christians than to address the true unity of the body of Christ in the nation.

Some of the issues one can quickly point at are pilgrimage, political appointments, contracts, support of church projects etc. These were intended to represent the views and demands of the church before the world government!

You may say, 'what is wrong with all these?' A close look at it will assure you of what the whole thing had turned into; suspicions, fights, selfish interests etc...

Let me be categorical about this assertion; if the players were to follow the rules their game "according to the will of God" the church would have won the day in the face of heathen influences...

EMPHASIS ON THE HOLY GHOST

Coinciding with the reprint of the Book "Everyday with the Holy Spirit" 

The greatest need of the church today is not money as many had been made to believe. Striving to make money as a great prospect in ministry is nothing but a bash misplacement of spiritual priority. When you have money, they claim, you can purchase sophisticated musical or sound equipments; you can also hire the best or most qualified workers; with money you can still erect a pleasing to the eye cathedral, Schools, hospitals, universities and other edifices; with adequate finances, one can travel far and wide; you can organize programs like crusades, seminars, conventions…

But critically speaking, it does not mean much nor a big deal to succeed by ordinary natural methods, because all these do not first and foremost make a ministry with divine backing or approval. Without God’s back up, all one can do is to only imitate others or take after worldly fashions and give the ministry a superficial outlook and name. What a tragedy of ministry with so much earthly initiatives, focus and abundance; but deficient of God’s power!

That is why our Lord Jesus ensured a clear direction to successful service in God’s kingdom only in Spirit and Truth (Jn 6:24). And in His discourse to the disciples before His ascension, He also made it clear that they only need to depend on the power of the Holy Ghost as they journeyed into ministry without His physical presence.

Acts 1:6-8

"Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”  And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” NKJV

Here the first apostles received assurance of the fulfillment of an enduring and everlasting promise of the Father; the Holy Spirit. He had intimated them about it in John 16:6-11

THE DECADE OF NEW THINGS

This is a write up from the Ministry's magazine "The Spirit's Voice" the first edition of 2011. I referred to it as the confirmation of what the Lord Jesus Christ had been doing in the ministry. Glory be to God Almighty forever.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” (Rev. 2:11) kjv

We are God’s agents of His kingdom’s advancement. We are not only praying and fasting for God to move mysteriously, but we have such bountiful bold assurance that God’s word as the Spirit and Life is very actively involved in our personal and co-operate ministries! This is what we refer to as an emergence of the decade of New Things!

“For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.” (Is.66:22) kjv Also read: Is. 42:9; 43:19; 48:6;
64:4; 1Cor.2:9.

In our previous edition of the ‘Spirit’sVoice,’ this column carried this conclusion: ‘Christianity is not all about the church activities and self-gratifying programs we crave for; it is not all about the good music in church every Sunday morning; it is not all about the powerful worship services that take place in our so called sophisticated cathedrals we are boastful of them…’

In continuation to this, of course, Christianity is not only in our best choir performances; it is neither in a wonderful church committee or board of trustees or elders/deacons etc; it is never in the best creativity in youth, women, and children programs. 

Many church organizations are seriously engaged in business ventures in order to uphold relevance in society. There are many of such divergences which so many ministries have turned to in the bid to make impact in society. But none of these can take the place of the power of God by His Spirit.

The Holy Spirit in the Bible – GENESIS

GENESIS 1:2 “The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep, And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”

 This was the way creation took place. God Himself had to acknowledge the role of the Holy Spirit to pave the way for His creation pronouncements. God acknowledged Him, permitted Him to play His role and things worked out well. So we too must do!

Genesis 6:3 “And the Lord said, my Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years”

It was by His Spirit that God had to overlook the wickedness of man (vs. 5 -7). Mercy followed when Noah was identified as “found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (v.8) therefore God's contention between His Spirit and man had to be settled. We should also pray that no matter what our spiritual set back “let the Holy Spirit not strive with me in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Genesis 41:38 “And Pharaoh said to his servants, can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is in the Spirit of God?”     

This heathen king acknowledged that the potential abilities of Joseph were not unconnected with the indwelling performance of the Holy Spirit. And because of the irrevocable genuineness of the anointed result oriented ministry of Joseph, Pharaoh voluntarily relinquished his kingly position to him. (vv 38-41).

We must reign by the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence in every facet of our lives in the Name of Jesus Christ.
