How
much was Moses’ salary when God used Him to set the Israelites free from the
Egyptian bondage? How much were the annual earnings of Joshua, Abraham, David,
Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Jeremiah etc of old?
When
John the Baptist emerged, followed by our Lord Jesus Christ, Peter, Paul and
other apostles; with whom did they negotiate their pay packages?
Where
did the church get the practice of God’s work for pay? Is there any salary
structure in the Bible? From all indications, the world’s orientation might have
filtered into the church which was to function only by Spiritual and Biblical
approach and principles.
Many
ministers of the gospel today are looking at God’s work as it operates in world
governments. Someone must employ them; they must write some kind of exams; they
must be invited for an interview; they must attend a Bible School to qualify;
they must be certified to fit into a denominational structure and so and so
forth to be employed into the ministry.
Today,
only a few truly serve God and not men! Many are ambitious to be employed so
that they can compete with their government counterparts.
Without
the true direction and anointing of the Holy Spirit, God may never approve of
such services. I know many young ministers today have serious trouble in their
consciences. The right thing to do is PRAY; wait again unto the Lord for a
renewed direction and focus. Do not toil in vain!
