Thomas
was a disciple of Jesus Christ just like many of us profess to be today. He
found it difficult to walk by faith as a basic requirement of following Jesus. Below
were some of his negative confessions:
“Thomas
said to Him, ‘Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the
way?’” Jn 14:5
"Unless
I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of
the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe." Jn 20:25
“Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to
his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him." Jn
11:16
A
typical negative result of doubt can be seen in the attitude of Thomas about
the death of Lazarus. The Lord Jesus had earlier announced that; "This
sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may
be glorified through it."
And
yet Thomas’ confession resorted doubtful; "Let us also go, that we may die
with Him." Jn 11:16b
Whenever
doubt or unbelief occupies one’s thinking; the thought of death must begin to
proceed as confessions. Oh Lord God, deliver us from a doubtful spirit so we
can be blessed and please You with faith in every area of our lives in Jesus
Name...
Jesus
promised us that believe even though we have not seen; "...Thomas, because
you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and
yet have believed.” Jn 20:29
