What is Christian service? Many Christians think that they
are serving God by defending their denominational creeds and norms.
Others
think that what they do in the church in terms of performing some weekly
activities eg singing in the choir, participating in some committee meetings,
or being an elder or an usher etc in the church…
All these and many more are
good works, but they may never be considered as the basis for faithful
Christian service.
What shall you do to do the work of God? The answer is in
the continued acts of faith only. Those who believe in Christ only will be
considered as God’s workers. Every form of denial of the works of Christ Jesus
amount to rebellion against God.
Matthew 10:1 “And
when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean
spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of
disease… "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out
demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
Every detailed work of Christ that is left undone must
attract the Lord’s rejection and anger on the last day. No work that Christ
Jesus did should be denied; this is where faith plays an important role in
God’s service. Without faith, we cannot please God!
