What great error and
mischievous approach of trying to know God outside of or far away from Him; a
very clear deception of getting heavenly revelation from mortal beings! How can
one know God in a set up of ordinary men and contrary spirits?
Gal 1:12 - For I
neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the
revelation of Jesus Christ. (For Further Reading Gal 1:1; Eph 3:1-12)
Apostle Paul’s
conversion account from inception to the whole of his calling and ministry is a
typical illustration for all converts to accept as a premium to follow. And
mark it, Paul had a personal mind-blowing encounter with Christ Jesus; this
could be considered as a remarkable insight into His life and ministry too.
At
the ministry starting point of Paul, there was an instant connection to and
embrace of the Lord Jesus. And after awhile, the Holy Spirit added to this
great transformation an accurate direction to Paul’s journey in ministry (Gal
1:1-24).
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good
and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Rm 12:2)
What are we trying to
put across? Where did we get the idea of trying to know God in the Bible school
or seminary or theological college? We are not against any practice in
different church set ups today, we are only giving encouragement for believers
to absolutely turn to God and practice the lifestyle handed over to us by His
Son Jesus and by the leading of the Holy Spirit as it is clearly written in the
Bible!
The Lord Jesus since
childhood, shockingly amazed the great scholars of His earthly days (Lk
2:46-47).
The Jews were baffled
at the teaching of Jesus; “And the Jews marveled, saying, "How
does this Man know letters, having never studied?" (Jn 7:15) Further reading; Mt 7:28; Mk 1:22;
Lk 4:22,32.
Also take a look at the
account of the apostles who took over directly from Jesus Christ, who addressed
the Jewish religious leaders when they were attacked while in the process of
executing the Master’s assignment in Acts of Apostles 4:8,13;
“Then Peter, filled
with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of
Israel… Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that
they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that
they had been with Jesus.”
This should serve as an
excellent point for consistent emulation in the church today. We should deliberately
avoid or keep away from depending on contrary sources of power or help either
than God’s Spirit.
