Prayer to the
Christian must be taken as a lifestyle; and it becomes a truthful obligation if
taken after the example of Jesus!
Mk 1:35 “Now
in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and
departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”
Lk 4:42 “Now
when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd
sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; 43 but He
said to them, ‘I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also,
because for this purpose I have been sent.’”
Mt 14:23 “And
when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to
pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.” (Also Mk 6:46; Jn 6:16)
Lk 5:15 “However,
the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came
together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 So He Himself
often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.”
Lk 6:12 “Now
it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and
continued all night in prayer to God.”
Lk 9:18 “And
it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He
asked them, saying, ‘Who do the crowds say that I am?’”
Lk 22:41,42 “And
He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed,” (Also Mt 26:39; Mr 14:35) 42 saying, "Father, if it is Your will,
take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."
(Also Jn 5:30; 6:38)
Public Prayer
of Christ: Mt 11:25; Lu 3:21; Jn 11:41; Jn 17:1.
