CURBING DRUG MENACE

World governments had been disturbed by the menace of drug trafficking; numerous methods had been sought and applied to curb or stop the destructive trade which had left many people in terrible conditions of bad health and destitution. This societal fracture had defied all curative strategies and measures.

Just like all societal vices, man-made approach to curtail excesses of the various lifestyles had always proved abortive for several reasons. The authorities concerned are helpless due to their deep involvement in the trade and addiction. And since it has become the most highest money making enterprise, and money itself had become the drive of the so-called success in life, it is too hard for those in it to quit!

The devil in his usual subtlety will always keep people in bondage so he can continue to advance his notorious evil business of stealing, killing and destruction which make the trade viably strategic. This tells us clearly that menace is more of a spiritual problem than ordinary.

I was a drug addict before. A problem I face since I was in form three in the college from 1968-1973. Though from a Christian upbringing, both the church, family and community around were helpless to get me out of drugs, alcohol, cigarette, and marijuana. Of course, these led to other sinful behaviors.

I have seen many organizations, both Christian and secular making frantic efforts to curb the menace of drugs. Their approaches include rehabilitating the victims, providing medical and psychological attention  and so on and so forth. Some have taken undue advantage of the problem pretending to save but end up enriching themselves.

At a spiritual perspective, transformation of lives generally only need the miraculous method to succeed. I am bold to say it because that was what provided permanent rescue to my personal case. Time is not on our side, all churches must embrace the Biblical injunction of the supernatural methods God Almighty had supplied us with by the power of the Holy Spirit to save, deliver and bless the world. We have already got numerous testimonies to this effect which we should accept and comply to standard of God in His Word.
