The Music Pendulum

Music certainly emerged from a godly inventor. Enoch, the only character who was said to have walked with God and never died gave birth to the descendant of the musician. Lamech was third in the linage of Enoch who gave birth to Jubal who was tagged; “…the father of all those who play the harp and flute…” (Genesis 4:21)

With time music developed along with civilization; cultures and traditions also improved on musical instruments and performing skills. Today, music had turned completely turned digital; while performing artists had almost declined or faded away. Well, I think it ought not to be so. This concern will be treated on a different post on this blog.

Amazingly, music pleases God; it is used in worship and praises to Him. This too has its godly origin (1Samuel 10:5-8). Prophet Elisha employed the service of musicians in his prophetic ministry (2Kings 3:14-16). David as a musician was employed to resolve the oppressive spirit which was tormenting king Saul (1Samuel16:14,16,23). Obviously, music should play an important role in worship and praise to God.

However, just as all God’s blessings to humanity, the devil had
always invented their bad sides. In fact, he does not just seek to distort the truth, but he is always bent on exercising control over it. His wicked control over music had infiltrated the church. That is why instead of applying melodious sounds to glorify God, many are using it for emotional self gratifications. They enjoy the music and only dance not unto the Lord but to please themselves.

The Christian artists also have a portion of blame; many are making money with the name of Lord; thereby calling His name in vain. In the process of music production, the enemy now had to spell out his crafty device to present good melody but shamble and unholy lyrics. And in most cases, thousands of fans had been initiated into his arena of stealing, killing and destruction.

1Cor 14:15 “What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.”   Also Read; Ps 47:7; Eph 5:19; Col 3:16
