Beautiful and stylish
architectural edifices are occupying both urban and rural areas everywhere in
the world today. So much competition is involved in it.
These classy
structures are in all sectors of interests. They are found in the industrial
circles, hospitality industry, learning institutions, accommodations, religious
centres and many more.
The church should not
be included as a religious outfit. But because of the reality face to face with
us, many churches cannot but be termed as religious. Every church that does not
give God’s Spirit His proper place among them is nothing but like one of those
world religions.
In the ministry days
of our Lord Jesus, His disciples were attracted and highly impressed with a
church building just like many of us will arrogantly boast of ours today.
Luke 21:5 “Then,
as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and
donations, He said, ‘These things which you see--the days will come in which
not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.’”
NKJV
One wonders whether
church authorities take note of this scripture at all. I believe that we can be
modest in our approach to edifices knowing very well that they are never eternal.
And more so, we should channel our God’s supplied wealth appropriately; many a
church ‘members’ are languishing in abject poverty but attend God’s worship in a
multi-million church edifice.
God will be pleased
to cause a ruin on such selfish plans as the fulfillment of His Word. It is
never too late for many who had been trapped by this worldly foolish
competition to sell all they have and take care of the needs of the widows,
orphans, peasant farmers and traders, homeless, the naked and barefooted in
their midst. This is now God’s Kingdom administration in earnest!
