We have many
religious beliefs in the world. I hate to call Christianity as one of them; because
there is none of their prophet or founder that taught like the Lord Jesus
Christ; although they know it; yet that does not stop the whole world to
consider it so.
However, the Bible
speaks about true religion; James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God and
the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep
oneself unspotted from the world.”
The
above reference gives the description of religion itself. It is supposed to be
pure and undefiled before God. It is the sacrifice of one’s life to God in holy
living; resisting sins of immorality, filth and impurity.
This
major religious requirement can never be victoriously observed without the
power of God’s Spirit. One would end up a hypocrite serving God with self
effort.
In
addition, true religion is characterized by charity work; visiting the orphans
and widows and extending the hand of love sharing your wealth with them.
And finally, the life
of holiness or purity does not stop at just being a philanthropist but true ‘religious’
dedication should be crowned with keeping “oneself unspotted from the world.”
This
is a total separation from worldliness.
