Life is a constant contest.
The contestants are evil and good within the individual’s life. The contest is
a battle between God and Satan; and the Christians’ environments and situations
are the battle arena.
The Bible clearly states;
“For
we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6:12)
The battle of life
consists of determined moment by moment wrestles with the opposing agents of righteousness
against us. All these are spelt out in the verse above.
These are the forces
that contend with our faith in God. They are engaged in a very serious contest against
the reality advancement of the Kingdom of God.
The episode in the
story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal comes to mind. This was a clear
contest between light and darkness and the light obviously was victorious. This
must serve as a practical illustration to what the Christians should learn from
the challenges we face today (1Ki 18:17-40).
Our weapons of warfare
are strong, powerful and spiritual in the Lord God Almighty to the pulling down
of strongholds and in the casting down of imaginations against every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (2Cor 10:3-5).
We are to remain in
this contest spirit all the time to let the world knows the difference between
God’s Authority and Satan downfall. And by this, many should run back to God
and shun the enemy’s destructive gimmicks.
